“Cook me, freeze me, reheat me and I will be as delicious as if you had just cooked me”

Serves : 1 cup (approximate 200gm) for 4 people  - See the Cooking Ratio Guide below for other ratios.

Cooking Times: Range 35 to 45 minutes depending on required texture e.g. pleasant chewie, fluffier or stickier bite.

Cooking instructions - Stove Top: (A slow cooker, rice cooker, pressure cooker, microwave or thermomixer may also be used to cook SorgPlus Sorghum.)          

  1. Place 1 cup of SorgPlus Sorghum in a colander and rinse under cold water, to remove excess starch.

  2. In a small saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a full boil. May add salt and or a vegetable oil to suit (optional).

  3. Add 1 cup of SorgPlus Sorghum. Cover and bring back to a full boil for 5 minutes, then reduce heat to medium.

  4. Reduce to heat to Medium and continue to cook until SorgPlus Sorghum reaches the desired texture.

  5. Strain and rinse under Hot Water


  • Cook SorgPlus Sorghum ahead of time and store in your fridge or freezer

  • Avoid using a large saucepan if cooking small amounts, as water will evaporate too quickly.

  • Keep covered during cooking process.

  • May substitute water with chicken, beef or vegetable stock for more flavour (optional).

  • For a softer stickier bite, add more liquid.

  • If a bit pasty because you’ve used too much liquid or cooked it too long, just spread open on a plate. Once it cools down, fluff up with a fork.


If cooked ahead of time and frozen or refrigerated, reheat in microwave or on the stovetop to loosen up the grains. 

Add some water or olive oil or butter if a bit dry to your taste. Fluff up with a fork, the cooked SorgPlus Sorghum will not be soggy. SorgPlus Sorghum is a Non-GMO and Gluten–Free grain, grown locally.
